Day01 Arrive at Paro-Thimphu International flight into Paro Valley, across the extraordinary Himalayan Mountains, including over Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga and other Bhutanese summits. Your private guide will meet and escort you to the hotel. Your discovery of Paro will begin with the National Museum and Paro Rompong Dzong (Fortress). Then drive to the capital of Bhutan, Thimpu. Day02 Thimphu sightseeing In the morning, we will visit the Memorial Chorten (a huge stupa), one of the most beautiful stupas of the Ngmapa sect of Buddhism. The next stop will be the Changangkha monastery, after which we will continue on to the Takin Zoo. A short drive from the zoo brings us to Sangaygang, overlooking the entire Thimpu Valley and beyond. After lunch at a local restaurant, we will visit the arts and crafts school, where you can see Bhutanese art in the making. A visit will also be made to the post office. Time permitting, we will watch an archery competition. In the evening we will proceed to Taschho Dzong, the lofty seat of Bhutanese governance. The day will conclude with a visit to Buddha Point, where the largest statue of the futuristic Buddha, Maitreya, is being built, on a remarkable vantage point of the entire Thimphu Valley. Day03 Thimphu-Punakha/ Wangduephodrang In the morning, drive to Panakha. After about 45 minutes on the road, we reach Dochula Pass (alt. 10,171ft), and the first spectacular view of the eastern Himalayas, with their snow-capped summits ranging from 19,000 to near 25,000 feet. At Wangdue, we will visit the ruins of Wangduephodrang Dzong (Fortress). We will continue on to Chimey Lhakhang, an hour walking round trip. After lunch, we proceed to Punakha. You can see the Dzong (Fortress), resembling a giant ship anchored in an expanse of still water, from afar. It is an architectural icon, located at the confluence of two rivers - the Pho (male) and the Mo (female) chus (rivers). Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Accommodation: Drubchhu Resort or similar
Day04 Punakha-Paro Beginning of the return journey to Paro. After lunch, we will visit Kyichu Monastery, by the Buddhist Tibetan King Songsten Goembo. A short drive from there will take us to the ruins of Drugyel Dzong ('Castle of the Victorious Drukpa'), built to commemorate the victory of Bhutanese forces over the Tibetans in the 16th and 17th centuries. You will then be taken to visit a farmhouse, to conclude the day's activities Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Accommodation: Mandala Resort or similar
Day05 Paro-Taktsang Monastery This is going to be one of your most memorable experiences as we visit Taktsang Monastery (Tiger's Nest), a work of art blending the spiritual with architectural splendor. One of the holiest shrines in Bhutan. Several Buddhist masters have meditated at the site. The duration of the trek will be five hours' gradual climb along an ancient trail. After the trek you may stroll through Paro town, to wrap up the day. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Accommodation: Mandala Resort or similar
Day06 Delhi/Bangkok/Katmandu After breakfast, you will be driven to Paro International Airport for your return flight. Meals: Breakfast
