Kitano Tenman-gu Shrine, located northwest of Kyoto, Kitano Tenmangu Shrine was built over 1,000 years ago. To commemorate Sugawara no Michizane, an influential scholar and politician during the Heian period (794 AD-1185 AD), the emperor built the shrine in 947 to pray for the peace of the country. What to See in Kitano Tenmangu Shrine
The worship hall in front is connected to the main hall by a corridor called Ishi-no-Ma Hall.
