Hotels We Use in Japan FAQ
Are Japan hotel rooms small?
Japanese hotels are generally smaller compare with American and European type hotels. A typical room of 4-stars Japanese hotel is about 24 to 28 square meter (or 230 to 300 square foot).
Can I request a nonsmoking room in Japan?
Most hotels in Japan do not have smoking restriction, especially hot spring hotels. However, we can try to arrange nonsmoking room upon request.
How are the hot spring hotels in Japan?
If you want to stay in a traditional hot spring hotel, please inform your representative in advance and we will try to accommodate your need. Most of the hotels, especially those in Hokkaido, are long-established and traditional, thus are very hard to rate with standards.
Does every hotel provide breakfast and what foods are provided?
All the breakfasts are included. The breakfasts are served with both Japanese and Western foods in buffet style. Hotel breakfast hours are usually from 7:00AM to 9:00AM. If you need to catch your flight and do not have time for breakfast on the last day, our tour guide can help to order a breakfast box to go.
Do I have to pay a single room supplement if I join in the tour group by myself?
If you are traveling alone, single supplement fee will apply because you will have your own room. The single supplement fee is the additional charge to compensate for half of the room price. Because tourists are with different cultural backgrounds and habits, we do not pair up single travelers. If you do not want to pay the single supplement fee, you are welcome to invite a guest to travel with you.
If I pay for the single supplement fee, what type of room will I get?
You will have your own single room if you pay the single supplement fee. However, the single rooms in Japan are usually smaller than the standard rooms. Thus, you will get a smaller single room even if single supplement fee is paid.
Do all the hotels provide baggage service?
In Japan, except for some five stars hotels, most three and four stars hotels do not provide baggage service. However, our tour guide can help you with the luggage. Most hotels in Japan are carefully designed and allow easy transfer of luggage to the rooms.
If three people share a room, what type of room will be provided?
Most hotels in Japan offer triple rooms. However, if the hotel does not have triple rooms, we will arrange a larger room and add in an extra small bed. Given that hotels in Japan are generally smaller than other countries, you may also consider paying the single supplement fee to add an extra room.
