Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum Fushimi Kyoto is one of the major sake production sites in Japan. Among the countless breweries, Gekkeikan is the most renowned and has been around for hundreds of years. The Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum is located inside the brewery. The museum was renovated from a wine cellar in 1909, but was not open to the public until 1982. The museum displays about 400 tools used in the sake production and sake sets. The museum also presents the timeline history of the company. At the end of the tour, visitors can try some samples such as Ginjoshu in the lobby. Kizakura Sake & Beer Museum Inside the headquarter of Kizakura is the Kizakura Fushimi-Gura. This is the only museum allowing visitors to watch the procedure on both sake and beer production. Among the total of 5 floors, 2F is manufacture site of beer, 4F is the packing assembly line, and 5F is the storage of the products. Each floor is installed with glasses window, through which guests can supervise the procedure. Oishi Sake Brewery Miyamakura Oishi Sake Brewery, which boasts a 300 long history as a skillful brewery in Tanba, moved the brewery in 2014 to Miyama, an area near Kayabuki no Sato, a village of thatched houses. In the same year, experience tour inside the Miyama brewery is available to the public. Reservation is required, and the tour is only offered in Japanese. Please note winter is the main season for alcohol production, and the tour may be altered to accommodate the production schedule.
