The city of Kathmandu is the urban core of the Kathmandu Valley and is not only the capital of Nepal but also the headquarters of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation.
Standing at an elevation of approximately 1,400 meters (4,600 ft), Kathmandu is situated in a valley of steep inclines in central Nepal surrounded by four major mountains. Kathmandu is an open-air museum of famous sites, ancient temples and shrines, golden pagodas and awe-inspiring deities. It is a city of endless historic, artistic and cultural interests. One can purchase many different things that are inspired by both the history and creativeness of the local people; such as handicrafts, carpets, wooden art, bronze casting and metal work, Nepali paper prints and garments.

Pokhara
Pokhara is the second largest city in Nepal with a population of about one million people. Situated in the northwestern corner of the Pokhara Valley, which is a wider section of the Seti Gandaki valley. The Seti River and its tributaries, running through the city, have dug impressive canyons into the valley floor that give the area a unique look. Situated at an altitude of 827 meters above sea level and 200 kilometers west of Kathmandu valley, this enchanting city has several beautiful lakes and offers stunning panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks. Pokhara is home to the Gurungs and Magars, known as hardworking farmers and brave warriors who have earned worldwide fame as Gurkha soldiers. The ideal time to visit is between October and April.

Nagarkot
Situated 32 kilometers east of Kathmandu at an altitude of 2,175 meters, the small village of Nagarkot can be found on the northeastern rim of the Kathmandu Valley. One of the most scenic spots in the region, it is widely renowned for its breathtaking sunrises and sunsets against the Himalayas. Surrounding Nagarkot is a beautiful panoramic view of some of the major peaks of the eastern Nepal Himalayas, including Mt. Everest, known as Sagarmartha to the Nepalese. And while the world's tallest mountain can be viewed from Nagarkot, Nagarkot takes the spot of second tallest mountain in the Kathmandu valley. Nagarkot is also known as the place where Manjushree Bodhisatto once stood and watched the lake below leading to the fact that this village boasts one of the most all-encompassing views of the Himalayas.

Chitwan
Chitwan is a district of the landlocked country of Nepal in South Asia. Chitwan is one of the few remaining undisturbed vestiges of the Terai region, which formerly extended over the foothills of Nepal. The district is in the western part of Narayani Zone with Bharatpur, the seventh largest city of Nepal, as its district headquarters. Chitwan has particularly rich flora and fauna. Nepal's first national park, the Chitwan National Park, alongside with the adjacent Parsa Wildlife Reserve support a diverse range of rare species including the Bengal tigers, gharials, leopards, Mugger crocodiles, Indian rock pythons and several species of deer. Chitwan is a major destination for those looking for education, healthcare, and extensive transport networks.

Lumbini
Lumbini, declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1997, is known as the birthplace of Gautama Buddha. Lumbini translates to 'The Lovely One' in Sanskrit and is one of the most holy sites in Nepal for the Buddhist faith. Gautama Buddha, often referred to as "the Light of Asia", was the founder of Buddhism and was born sometime during the 6th or 7th century BC. Lumbini is one of the four Buddhist pilgrimage sites based on the major events in the life of Gautama Buddha. It is a site of cultural, religious and historical importance. The Buddhist associations of China, Myanmar and Gautami each have their own separate pagodas, while the pagodas of Japan, Sri Lanka and Vietnam are under construction.

Bhaktapur
Bhaktapur, also known as Bhadgaon, is situated in the Kathmandu Valley in central Nepal. Bhaktapur is an agricultural city and has remained rural at heart. During the 12th century, King Ananda Deva of Banepa, the ruler of a powerful kingdom known as the Malla, which was located just outside the rim of the valley, shifted the capital to Bhaktapur and built a royal palace in the city's western quarter. The Bhaktapur people have their own distinctive culture and traditions. There are many temples which are famous not only in Nepal, but also known worldwide. No one should visit Nepal without witnessing the majesty of Bahktapur's landmarks and colorful traditions.

The Himalayan Region
The Himalayan region contains some of the highest mountain peaks in the world. Found in the northern parts of Bhutan and Nepal and in three other countries, the region also hosts numerous small towns and villages. People living in this region rely heavily on agriculture, and they grow maize, potatoes, millet, fruits, and vegetables. There are also some cottage industries in the area that produce blankets, carpets, and jackets from the wool of sheep. Animals are used to produce cheese, butter, and ghee. Transportation is difficult in the mountains, but air service has recently added more convenience to the area. However, horses and mules remain the primary method of transport.
