How to get to the Asakura Onsen Ski Resort from Tokyo? The whole Myoko Kogen area is filled with some ski resorts, Akakura Onsen is the largest one which is an awesome ski field that accommodates all levels. The whole snow area consists of two interconnected ski fields: Akakura Onsen and Akakura Kanko. There are more red and black runs in Akakura Kangko, the ski passes can be for Akakura Onsen, Akakura Kanko or both. The whole area is much more like a big village than a modern resort. It is just three hours away by train from Tokyo, most skiers stay in the Akakura villages, or the lower village of Akakura Kanko. There are plenty of restaurants and bars in the village, and a free shuttle between Myoko Kogen Station and Kumado in Japanese snow season.
